Hello my good peoples,

So sometime back I got the chance to roam the streets of Nairobi at dusk into night with two good friends Mwarv and Mutua Matheka and the whole idea was shoot Nairobi by Night. This was a fun time and life threatening too as we were almost run over severally by City Hoppa’s, KBS among other ruthless public means of transport. We came out with our lives intact and most important our gear and photos to tell of the fun packed evening. I have a few images I would love to share with you … after the setup at our first location we headed down towards to KICC and capture it in a form I doubt we have seen it before … all lit up … Hope you enjoy the photos

Hello all,

My post today involves no photos but just a short statement First and foremost I just want to take this time to thank each and everyone of you that voted for me when my blog was nominated and I am privileged to be among the selected 45 blogs out of 700 that were submitted. I thank God for the opportunity and meeting other bloggers and connecting and I wouldn’t have gotten this far with y’all

Thank you BAKE for the chance and opportunity to battle it out and showcase my blog and photography.

Second, no I did not win but hey a good friend of mine Mutua Matheka took the title 2nd year running and I am glad … it was such a joy to be up against him and Mwarv and I am honored to have battled it out with y’all. These two are great men and great photographers do continue to check out and promote Kenya photography that has such creative and visual styles that we present to you.

Maybe next year I take the crown? Yes? No?

Jungle Fever

In the time I have been doing photography, I have gotten a chance to experiment different styles, meet different photographers and models and I think through that time I have met one amazing model who has been just outstanding every time we shoot together.

Where it all began …

Greetings peoples,

Today I want to give you a little insight as to how I began shooting and this whole photography journey. I will be showing images from my “recent” past … I could say some have been iconic shaping me as a photographer maybe Some of the photos you may have seen others maybe not … anyway enjoy

In this forest is where my photography began …

It was in this forest that my photography journey began, this was shot in Germany and that is the country I purchased my first camera and named her “Cassie”. I used to crisscross through this forest almost on a daily basis and would capture various images here and there … below is a bench I passed and sat on several times in the same forest. When I began photography, I would follow a 365 day photo challenge and the assignments actually helped me group because they would vary from composition, colour basically exploring various photography styles. That is one thing I would recommend any newbie out there .. get linked to a 365 day photo challenge it shall stretch your mind

In the above photo (again take in Germany) I was actively taking a photo a day on a certain task given and I remember with this I had to take the clear blue sky but just to enhance creativity I figure you need something to put that blue sky into perspective …

When I began photography I got into a habit of just taking photo-walks and the image above is one of a wheat farm I passed on one of my walks, the image below was taken on another one of my photo walks.

Being a newbie in photography then I never really knew what field of photography I wanted to settle in (atleast now I know what I want to shoot and what I hate to shoot ) I actually got into the habit of having my camera everywhere I went and at every event I went to. I had to try out shooting all over and know if I could survive in that environment. The above photo I took at a friends in Germany and after gate crashing many weddings and perfecting the skill below is a photo from one of the first destination weddings I did.

While I was learning photography in a far away land I would be forever online learning and connecting with other photographers … then we would talk a lot with the great (he wasn’t so great then lol he will kill me for that statement) Mutua Matheka and we agreed once I get back from the far away land he would take me to the top of KICC where he would take those mind-boggling Nairobi Pictures … this image below is from that first visit I made up there *and to think i went up with no tripod – newbie mistakes

The above images are some of the shots I took as I was exploring portraiture and fashion photography and actually trying to understand photographing humans .. some people find it hard shooting living things and resort to shooting still objects, personally as I was growing in this field I was intrigued at shooting humans and more so geared to shoots with stories behind them rather than plain portfolio shots.

Again with a few other photographers we decided in this learning stage where can we go and shoot, we decided the Nairobi Railway Station was good and we shot covertly away from the authorities

The image below was taken the first I went to Uhuru park with an intention to shoot … again as a newbie then I didn’t have a tripod :/

And finally the last image, serves as merely an experiment I doing, trying to a achieve a shinny new glitter to the trumpet .. jazzy kinda feel with the low light etc
